RULES FOR DIPLOMA COURSES
COURSE DURATION
All Diploma Courses have the duration of three years.
ELIGIBILITIES TO GET THE CONSOLIDATED CERTIFICATE
The Diplome will be awarded only if the students had passed in all the subjects after studying a course of period of not less than three years in a Polytechnic College which functions under the control of Tamil Nadu state Technical Education and training board.
SYLLABUS
First year Engineering section subjects for all Engineering Branches like(Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Electrical &Electronics Engg,Mechanical (Tool&DIE)) are common. Second year onwards the subjects will be taught respective to the branches of study. Theory and practical classes will be taught according to syllabus finalised by the Director of Technical Education.
EXAMS AND ATTENDANCE : The examinations shall be conducted at the end of each semester by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu. A candidate will ho permitted to appear for the Board Examination if,
a. He/She secures 80% of attendance in the concerned semester.
b. He/She earns a progress certificate in studies from the Head of the institution for having satisfactorily completed the course of study prescribed as required by the regulations and
c. His/Her conduct is satisfactory.
ELIGIBILITY FOR PASS
The students will be announced as passed if only they score m not less than 40% in theory and 50% in practical.
CLASSIFYING THE PASSED STUDENTS
a. Except the first year in other semesters if they had passed all the subjects with 75% of marks and above out of the Total mark, by making only one attempt within the period of 3 will be announced that they passed in first class with Honours.
b. Except the first year in other semesters of the students had passed by scoring 60% and above, all the subjects including the first year subjects within the period of 3 years, will be announced as the first class mark getter.
c. Other students who have passed will be announced as they passed in second class.
WORKING HOURS
The class working hours are from 9.30 AM to 1.30 PM forenoon session and 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM
